Overview It's easy to renew your MAT certificate online. Online testing works best with a high-speed internet connection, like DSL or cable. You must renew your certificate before it expires.
Online Renewal Test The test is 50 questions. You must get a final score of 90% or higher to pass the test. You must complete the test on your own. You will be allowed six hours to complete the test but it will probably take only one to two hours.
Once you begin taking the test, you will not be allowed to close out and return to finish the test at a later time. The program will automatically close after six hours even if you have not finished the test. If you begin the test and lose your internet connection before you have finished, you must immediately log back into the program. If you do not log on within 15 minutes, you will automatically fail the test so be sure to keep your username and password near by while taking the test in case you lose your connection.
Before taking the test, you can watch the MAT video or review any of the MAT handouts by clicking on the links. They are a good review of the test material.
When you click the ‘view the handouts’ link it will open a separate window and list the table of contents. To review a specific handout, click the link. The handout will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have this program, click here to access a free download of the program. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to take the online test.
When you click the ‘view the video’ link, it will open a separate window and list the video segments. The video will play using Windows Media Player. If you do not have this program, you will receive a prompt the first time you try to play the video to download the program.
You must have your username and password to log on to the test. A step-by-step review of how to navigate the online test is available. Take a few minutes to watch it before beginning the online test.
Renewal Certificate Once you complete the test and receive a score of 90% or higher, please print the letter stating that you have successfully passed the online MAT recertification test. You will receive your new certificate in four to six weeks.
When you retake the test, you will get different test questions so be sure to read the questions carefully.
